Chakchiuma Chapter, NSDAR
From a one-time event website to ongoing digital and design support for a growing chapter.
The Partnership
The Chakchiuma Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution came to me in 2025 with a big goal: host a signature America 250 celebration and build a real digital presence from scratch.
We started with the event. We didn't stop there.
What began as a single project has grown into an ongoing relationship. Today, I manage the chapter's website and provide design support for their member communications—including name tags and a printed newsletter. It's the kind of long-term partnership I love most: one where I get to watch an organization grow and keep their tools sharp along the way.
What We Built Together
Website Design & Ongoing Management
I designed and launched chakchiumadar.org, a custom Squarespace site with a warm, historical aesthetic, mobile optimization, an officer page, a blog, and an integrated contact form. Since launch, I've stayed on to manage updates, add new content, and keep the site running smoothly as the chapter evolves.

Member Name Tags
I designed a set of custom name tags for chapter members—a small but meaningful piece that helps members feel connected and recognized at meetings and events.
Printed Chapter Newsletter
I designed the chapter's printed newsletter, giving members a clean, readable way to stay informed about meetings, service projects, and chapter news.
Grant Writing
I authored the successful $5,000 America250 Mississippi grant proposal, including narrative, budget, and 1:1 match strategy. The grant was approved by the Mississippi Humanities Council.
Social Media & Event Promotion
I developed a 3-post-per-week content calendar and a Facebook event page that drove hundreds of attendees to the America 250 celebration.
Event Photography
I documented the 5-hour festival (10 AM–3 PM) with professional photography, resulting in a shareable album that continues to promote the chapter's work.

Case Study: America 250 Celebration at Cotesworth
The Challenge
The chapter had no official website, no social media presence, no dedicated event page, and no funding source for what would become a $10,000 community festival at the historic Cotesworth Cultural and Heritage Center in Carrollton, Mississippi.
The Results
$10,000 total event budget ($5,000 grant + $5,000 match)
A free community festival featuring living history, colonial dance, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson portrayals, children's activities, food trucks, and 200 free Pocket Constitutions
Ongoing digital assets — website, Facebook page, and photo archive — that continue to serve the chapter today
What the Client Says
"Alicia was invaluable from start to finish – building our website, winning the grant, and capturing the event beautifully. I can't imagine pulling this off without her."
— Melanie Bowman, Regent, Chakchiuma Chapter NSDAR
